Born on October 19, 1982 Louis Oosthuizen hails from Mossel Bay in Western Cape South Africa. His first the 3 years of his golf career Oosthuizen was financially supported as by South African golf pro Ernie Els. He has won numerous amateur titles before he became a professional in 2002 at age 19.
At the start of his career Louis Oosthuizen won five professional tournaments on the South Africa based Sunshine Golf Tour.
